Updated Saturday 8th April. Valid Tuesday 11th April to Wednesday 10th May 2006.

Mixed, although a brief taste of summer is possible

After a pressure pattern which has been dominated by high pressure tendencies we are likely to see, at least in the short term, a return to a more "zonal" flow over westerly winds. This will be pushing fronts eastwards, bringing much milder air to the British Isles. And some welcome spring-like conditions.

The medium term should see high pressure becoming re-established with an indication of a foretaste of summer during the latter stages of April, but don't get too excited just yet!

However, as April draws to a close the unsettled and cooler weather may well return.

By early May it is expected to become very changeable and unsettled with wet and windy conditions affecting all parts of the British isles and Ireland.
