Low pressure returns, windy at times...

A change in weather patterns takes place through the coming week, and it's a pattern that we haven't seen for a time. The westerly winds from the Atlantic are returning, with low pressure systems passing eastwards bringing rain to all parts of the UK and Ireland.

This morning (Monday) I'm watching an area of low pressure moving into southwest Scotland. It's not particularly active but will bring showery bursts of rain through parts of Scotland and the western coasts. However, it's the next area of low pressure moving in Tuesday which will bring a more vigorous area of rain with it.

So wet on Tuesday in the west, becoming windy too. The rain then passes eastwards during the night, before clearing the east by Wednesday morning. This sets us up for a good old fashioned unsettled day on Wednesday; a mix of sunshine and showers.

The back end of the weeks a bit troublesome right now. I think we'll probably see another area of low pressure moving in, bringing more rain for Friday and perhaps Saturday morning. The weekend should improve though, with sunny spells, although rain could move back into the west again later.

And what about next week? Well, I suspect that we may see high pressure building once again and so things should settle down. However, anything could happen and of course I'll keep you informed.

Whatever the weather, keep the sun shining!
Simon
