An improved outlook for the weekend...

Forecasting the weather is a bit like playing a game of cat and mouse. You're always chasing subtle changes that take place, trying to identify which of those changes is significant.

A change in the models overnight has brought about some god news for the weekend outlook across the British Isles and Ireland. High pressure now looks set to build to the west of Ireland, bringing better conditions, especially on Sunday.

Having said that, there will be some rain or showers around on Saturday. Most of these will be to the west of the UK and across Ireland with showers here. The showers are likely to be heavy and could merge into longer periods of rain. Further east it should be drier, although a shower can't be ruled out.

Whatever the weather, keep the sun shining!
