Hot at first, a mixed end
On current trends we can see no reason to change 'tack' at this stage, the overall pattern remains consistent and indicates that alterations in the flow will be slow, although by months end conditions should have altered somewhat.
The end of July into August should be mixed with all areas seeing some showers or longer spells of rain at times. The beginning of August is expected to see a general slack westerly to northwesterly flow through all areas, pressure high across southern England and Wales. Rather unsettled and cool through mid August with some heavy outbreaks of rain in places, windy too.
22/07 - 28/07
High pressure is expected to be still in control of the pattern through the weekend into the beginning of the week, with all areas mainly fine, settled and rather warm to very warm. Changes will be under way to the west and northwest and with high pressure declining away through the early part of the week, showers or longer spells of rain are expected to develop quite widely. Some heavy thundery showers are possible and turning much cooler later in the week as winds swing northwest to northerly, showers dieing away from the west as pressure builds across southwestern areas.
29/07 - 04/08
Pressure is expected to be high to the southwest with a ridge extending through the bulk of England and Wales, mainly fair to fine here with good sunny spells and a light west /northwesterly flow. Isolated to scattered showers possible across western coasts but mainly dry elsewhere. Northwestern area of the UK will see generally cloudier skies with some showery outbreaks of rain from time to time.
05/08 - 11/08
Little change is expected through the early period with a slack west to northwest flow across all areas, later in the week with a general fall in pressure there is likely to be a tendency for showers to develop quite widely. Becoming rather more unsettled from the northwest later across Northern and western Scotland.
12/08 - 16/08
A marked changed expected through this period, all areas should see outbreaks of rain, it's likely to be rather unsettled, cool and perhaps windy by mid-week.
