Autumn Warmth...
Good morning one and all,
As high pressure settled through central and eastern Europe next week, the focus is certainly going to be on lots of warmer than usual conditions. These will affect most of France, central and northern Europe, including most of Scandinavia. However, for western Russia, Ukraine and eastern Poland, we could find temperatures cooler than usual as the northerly winds set in.
The GFS is trying to bring rain and cloud through the UK and France as well as Iberia during the back end of the week. From Wednesday it will be turning cooler for western parts of Norway, with the winds increasing here. Northern Scotland could also be breezy.
I'm keeping a close watch on a deep area of low pressure centred to the south of Iceland on Wednesday. This remains in position and then dominates through to the end of the week, bringing those cooler conditions.
With sea temperature in the North Atlantic above normal, I'm tempted to plump for these lows building into the west of the UK and Iberia over the coming weeks. A ridge pumped up through central and northern Europe may well keep things drier and warmer than normal over much of central Europe, running into the south of Scnadinavia. At times though, we could find the stronger winds through western and northern Scandinavia, with stronger winds break through northern Scotland too at times.
Have a good day.
Simon
