Updated Monday 25th September 2006. Valid Tuesday 26th September to Wednesday 25th October 2006
Mixed but rather warm, wettest in west...
The overall forecast pattern remains unchanged and we are fairly pleased with the forecasting of the past couple of weeks. It does seem that low pressure will become an established feature west of Ireland for the next 7 days or so; this bringing unsettled conditions. Eventually higher pressure builds from the west, bringing more settled conditions with mist and fog patches overnight. We've always highlighted the 15th October as being a period of change and we do think that autumn proper will arrive around this date with more unsettled weather and strong winds, probably encroaching from the south.
30/09 -6/10
Although there may be showers or longer spells of rain through the weekend, high pressure is expected to build once more across all areas, an anticyclone settling over the UK. Mist and fog becoming a problem through inland areas and ground frost is possible.
7/10 - 13/10
High pressure tending to persist through the course of the week. This is likely to bring fine conditions to all places with mist and fog patches overnight. There is a chance that later in the week cloud increases in the southeast and this is likely to be bringing some outbreaks of rain later.
14/10 - 20/10
Fair with good spells of sunshine, but morning mist and fog patches in the north. To the south a gradually breakdown in conditions although staying mild. Bands of rain will be heading northwards, reaching all areas towards the end of the period.
21/10 - 25/10
Unsettled with outbreaks of rain, heaviest in the south. Much cooler conditions affecting Ireland, western Wales and western England later.
