Dry and warm int the east until the weekend, wet west.
The UK looks set to be trapped between low and high pressure through the end of the week. Low pressure is likely to be to the west of Ireland, with high pressure to the east. The result of this is going to be that pulses of rain will be pushing northwards in a south to southeasterly flow. This means that although there will be some rain, most of it always in the west, it is also going to be staying warmer than you would expect for the end of September.

heavy and thundery rain looks set to affect much of Ireland and western Scotland. It is probably going to be windy in the west, with a chance of gales through Ireland. For most of England and eastern Wales as well as central and eastern Scotland the day will be very warm, dry and sunny. Temperatures at 25C in southeast England, 19C in Ireland.
Friday 22/9/06
Further thundery rain in the west through Friday. This tending to push into western parts of England and Scotland through Friday. Overnight into Saturday heavier thundery rain may track northwards through much of central and southern England, Wales, northwest England and Scotland. Further east the day will be dry and warm. A few showers across Ireland, but becoming brighter here. Tops near 18 to 24C.

A brighter day seems likely through central and eastern parts of England and Scotland, although some showers are likely here later in the afternoon. Further west there will be showers, a few of them heavy at times. Temperatures at 20 to 24C.
Sunday 24/9/06
A front moving east taking periods of showery rain through much of Scotland and England. The rain could be heavy and thundery at times, especially over eastern Scotland. Brighter weather following from the west, together with a few showers, some of them heavy in western Ireland later. Tops near 17 to 21C, warmer in the east.
Monday 25/9/06
Drier through England, Wales and Scotland. There will be sunny spells and dry conditions and it should be warm too. Mainly dry over Ireland too, although showers into the west of Scotland.
