South to southeast winds keep it generally mild

I'm getting mixed messages this morning from the forecast. Yes, it is going to be staying generally mild for most of us, with high pressure to the east and low pressure to the west. The question is how much cloud will there be and will it give any rain? This becomes even more important at this time of year as cloud can lower temperatures and make the difference between and mild day and a cool one. Let's hope for a clearer steer on things tomorrow.

Friday 13/10/06
High pressure looks set to bring a fine day to much of England and Wales through the day. It will be warm with some good spells of sunshine once any morning mist patches have cleared away. Western parts of Scotland and Ireland may have more cloud, and here there is a risk of some drizzle in places. Temperatures around 21C in the far south of England, 15C in western Scotland.

Saturday 14/10/06
Indications that conditions do stay mainly dry for all through the course of Saturday. The best of sunshine over most of England and Wales as well as eastern Scotland. For western Scotland and western Ireland thicker cloud could edge in later in the day. There could also be increasing cloud amounts over East Anglia and the southeast later. Tops between 16 and 19C.

Sunday 15/10/06
Everything is pointing towards Sunday being a rather dull day for many places. There could be some drizzle, especially in the morning over most of England. The best sunshine for western Wales and the west of Scotland although even here there will be cloud. A cooler day under the cloud, near 16C in western Wales and western Scotland if the sun comes out, nearer 14 or 15C for much of central England.

Monday 16/10/06
A chance of some more persistent rain passing northwards through the course of Monday morning, extending over Wales and central parts of England where some of it may be heavy. Broken cloud for Scotland with sunny spells, and drier weather into the far south again later. Tops at 14 to 17C.

Tuesday 17/10/06
More cloud and a risk of some thundery rain breaking out for England and Wales, although the confidence in this is low at the moment. Rain could also trouble northwest Scotland. Elsewhere the day should be dry with sunny spells. Tops near 14 to 17C.
