Patchy rain, mainly in west

High pressure to the east of the United Kingdom will gradually give way to low pressure in the west. As a weak front fizzles out across western areas on Sunday, low pressure to the south west of Ireland will push in across western areas before being squeezed away late Tuesday as high pressure north of the country introduces something colder but settled for mid week.

Sunday 15/10/06
Though high pressure will dominate, remnants of a weak front will give Wales and south west England a few spots of drizzly rain this morning and rather dull across much of central and southern England too. This drizzly rain will fade by the afternoon but staying generally cloudy. Elsewhere it's a dry picture and while we see some sunshine at times, also expect lots of cloud. Tops at 13 to 18C.

Monday 16/10/06
Lots of cloud again for Wales and for Northern Ireland with some patchy, light rain this morning. Good sunny spells this morning for Scotland and eastern England with fog patches clearing. Expect some rain and showers for Wales, Northern Ireland and western Scotland in the afternoon, fair and dry elsewhere. Tops from 12C in northern Scotland to 19C in south east England.

Tuesday 17/10/06
Generally a lot of dry weather across the United Kingdom this morning though some light rain is possible across south west England and northern Scotland. Though confidence is low, we could see this rain spreading into much of southern England through the afternoon. Most dry elsewhere. Highs at 13 to 19C.
