Cold northerly winds developing later

It looks like we'll finally see an end to the unseasonably mild, wet weather that has persisted for much of October. As high pressure builds, a cold, northerly flow will develop bringing the first taste of winter to the country with night time frosts and snow showers for Scotland.

Monday 30/10/06
Morning mist will clear then dry across the central and southern of England in the morning then fair and dry with the best of the sunshine. Cloudy for the rest of the country with outbreaks of rain. The rain turns heavy across western and northern Scotland in the afternoon and becoming windier. Highs at 12 to 16C.

Tuesday 31/10/06
Overcast and damp for all parts in the morning with spells of rain and becoming quite windy. This should clear the far south of England in the afternoon as it brightens up. Colder in the north tonight with some snow for the Scottish Mountains as gale force northerly winds set in, light rain will persist in the south. Tops at 10 to 17C.

Much colder and windy today with rain around North Sea coasts clearing to a few showers. A few wintry showers may also affect northern Scotland. Fair and dry with long sunny spells for the rest of the United Kingdom. Cold overnight with a widespread frost developing. Highs of 6 to 11C.



Thursday 02/11/06
Rather breezy along North Sea coasts with occasional cloud and a few showers. Scattered snow showers are also expected across northern Scotland. Fine and dry across the bulk of the United Kingdom with long sunny spells after a frosty start. Clear, cold and frosty again overnight. Highs of 6 to 12C north to south.

Continued settled and dry across much of the United Kingdom today. Early fog and frost will clear away with most parts fair and dry with lost of sunshine. Cloud though and light rain will affect north west Scotland. Look for maximum temperatures of 9 to 14C.
