Widespread frosts developing later

The unsettled spell that brought low pressure areas and fronts to the country over the past month is forecast to give way to high pressure. As the anti-cyclone becomes established by mid week, most places will be dry but cold with night time frosts.

Overcast, windy and damp for all parts in the morning with spells of rain and becoming quite windy. This should clear the far south of England in the afternoon as it brightens up. Colder in the north tonight with some snow for the Scottish Mountains as strong northerly winds set in, light rain will persist in the south. Tops at 10 to 17C.

Much colder and windy along eastern coasts today with a few showers around North Sea coasts clearing for the afternoon. A few wintry showers may also affect northern Scotland. Fair and dry with long sunny spells for the rest of the United Kingdom. Cold overnight with a widespread frost developing. Highs of 6 to 11C.

Fine and dry across the bulk of the United Kingdom this morning with long sunny spells after a frosty start. Continued dry with lots of sunshine into the afternoon. Clear, cold and frosty again overnight. Highs of 6 to 12C north to south.

Rather cloudy across western parts of Cornwall today and here there may be some light rain. Elsewhere it stays dry and cold with sunny spells and varying cloud. Highs of 7 to 12C.

Becoming milder today with outbreaks of rain for the western half of the United Kingdom this morning. The rain spreads east into all parts during the afternoon, heavier in the north west and light and patchy in the south east. Look for maximum temperatures of 11 to 16C.
