A strong area of high pressure is expected to develop over Britain from Wednesday and this is expected to remain the dominant weather feature through the upcoming weekend. The week will be cold and characterised by fog, frost and sunshine.

Fine and dry across the whole of the United Kingdom this morning with long sunny spells after a frosty, foggy morning. The fog may be locally dense in places. Continued dry with lots of sunshine into the afternoon though a few fog patches may linger across the Midlands into the Vale of York. Foggy, cold and frosty again overnight. The fog will become dense and widespread. Highs of 6 to 12C.

Breezy with rain for northern Scotland today. Elsewhere it stays settled, cold and dry across the United Kingdom today. Another cold morning to come with dense fog patches. These will persist in some parts for much of the afternoon. Outside of the fog expect lots of sunshine. Not as cold tonight with rain in the north. Highs of 7 to 11C north to south.

A windy day in the north with outbreaks of rain for Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern England. To the south it will be fair and dry with early fog patches clearing. A milder day to come with highs of 10 to 14C north to south.

Little change is expected today with Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England having rain. For the rest of England and Wales it will be dry with varying cloud and sunnier spells. Highs of 10 to 15C.

Rather windy and cold today with scattered showers around the coasts of Scotland and northwest England. Most other areas will be dry and bright with sunny spells. Frost returning overnight. High temperatures of 7 to 12C.
