Cold periods, unsettled at times

January 07
01- 03
Unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain at first although turning much colder with a northerly flow developing, wintry showers extending south through all areas.

04-09
High pressure developing to the west, a generally north to northeasterly flow developing. Wintry showers over northern and eastern areas, drier to the west, overnight frost and fog widespread.

10-13
High pressure remaining to the west, a more northwesterly flow developing some showers moving south and east, perhaps feeling less cold.

14-16
High pressure building into the UK, all areas becoming settled, winds light and variable at first, then swinging into a milder southerly to southwesterly, clous and rain extending over the northwest and west.

17-31
Unsettled through all areas with low pressure controlling the pattern over the Atlantic. A west to southwesterly flow dominating the pattern through the remainder of the month. Rain or showers through most parts, windy in the west, little anticyclonic influences expected.

February
01- 08
Unsettled and mixed conditions continuing through all areas, as west to southwesterly flow dominating.

09-15
Pressure rising to the west of Ireland, a cool northwesterly developing, then high pressure developing over the UK and settling to the east, a southeast to easterly flow developing.

16-20
Low pressure attempting to push into the UK, strengthening easterly, southeasterly or easterly flow, threat of wintry conditions.

21-28
Less cold westerly flow moving east with rain, perhaps very windy through this period, unsettled conditions continuing through to months end.
