The Month Ahead 30 Day Outlook seiten=2 abk=mo
Updated Saturday 10th November 2006. Valid Monday 12th November to Wednesday 13th December 2006
Changeable and cold at times
There is marked variability in some of the forecast patterns at the moment and on all the available evidence it is difficult to decide which way the balance will 'tip'.
On current form the immediate outlook is for a rather changeable and mixed regime of conditions, in the medium term it is possible that we may see a short-lived colder spell of weather develop for a time. Higher pressure over the Continent should see a return to a 'less cold' south to southeasterly flow for a time before all areas become unsettled through to late November On this pattern the early part of December looks as though it may be rather unsettled through all areas, turning colder too, although confidence is not high.
18/11 - 24/11 Rather cold and unsettled, showers or longer outbreaks of rain, possibly wintry over hills and mountain in the north. Although the flow will be rather weak in nature at first, rising pressure over the near Continent will see an increasing southeasterly breeze developing across all areas through the early part of the week. Drier conditions will affect eastern areas of the UK while the west and northwest will see cloudier weather with showers or longer spells of rain. Becoming less cold later in the week with a more southerly flow, winds swinging into the southwest over northwestern Britain with outbreaks of rain.
25/11 - 01/12 Milder and unsettled everywhere as high pressure to the east collapses and allows a more 'zonal' westerly flow to develop. Bands of rain and strong winds moving through all areas followed by brighter and cooler conditions with blustery showers, perhaps turning wintry over higher ground in Scotland.
02/12 - 08/12 A possible 'blocking pattern' here, low pressure continuing to be held stationary over the UK, continuing to dominate the pattern through the week as pressure once more begins to rise to the east and northeast. Showers or longer spells of rain through all areas and breezy. Winds mainly from the southeast.
09/12 - 13/12 Turning colder as winds swing east to northeast, pressure rising to the northeast, wintry showers affecting eastern coastal areas, drier conditions across northern areas with frost and fog.
