The Month Ahead 30 Day Outlook seiten=2 abk=sk

Updated Tuesday 21st November 2006. Valid Tuesday 21st November to Wednesday 20th December 2006

Very disturbed

The confidence level in the last few patterns could only be described as moderate to low, and to be honest little has changed. It does seem likely however conditions will remain rather mixed and changeable, often cool too throughout the period leading up to the end of November with low pressure expected to be controlling the pattern. Anticyclonic influences are not expected to be widespread throughout the period, limited to transient areas of high pressure.

25/11 - 01/12
Low pressure to the north and northwest and high pressure to the southwest, a cool blustery northwesterly breeze covering the UK. Showers of longer spells of rain over the north and northwest, wintry over the highest ground. Further south, England and Wales will see showers across western areas, drier to the south and east, with sunny spells. Overnight frost inland where winds fall light. Turning unsettled and rather windy everywhere low pressure crossing close by to the northwest of Scotland. Heavy rain moving through all parts, clearing to blustery heavy showers and strong winds, turning colder across northern areas of the UK with wintry showers, possibly to lower levels across northern England, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

02/12 - 08/12
Remaining unsettled and cold at first, some recovery of pressure to the west will see showers dying away here, although a wintry, rainy mix continuing across eastern and northeastern areas for a while. A temporary ridge of high pressure may bring a quieter and settled couple of days with sunny spells and overnight frost through all areas. Cloud, wind and rain approaching the northwest, and this is expected to cross all areas through the mid-week period, gales across Scotland with heavy showers.

09/12 - 15/12
Low pressure continuing to control the pattern, perhaps becoming complex and slow moving. Showers or longer spells of rain across all areas and later a greater chance of precipitation becoming wintry, especially over higher ground of the north as a colder north to northeasterly breeze develops.

16/12 - 20/12
Cold for a time with wintry showers through most parts although cloud and rain approaching the west on a strengthening westerly flow. Windy over the north with outbreaks of rain, some drier conditions to the south with higher pressure, milder in most parts especially across the south.
