Risk of colder weather next week

The high pressure area that has been dominating conditions through the country over the past week or so is now showing signs of fading. There are hints that for a time next week conditions may become very unsettled with periods of heavy rain. There is a risk of an outbreaks of cold, Arctic air pushing south from mid-week, although at the moment this looks more likely to affect Scotland and Ireland.
