Mild south, cold north

By the weekend the high pressure that has dominated the United Kingdom will have receded east. From that point low pressure will be mainly in charge. Most parts will have some rain and a weather front may become stationary across northern England and Wales, giving some very wet weather indeed. The far south will become unseasonably mild with the colder air always reserved for Scotland.

Tuesday 14/11/06
Rather windy in south today but generally a dry, albeit cloudy day. Elsewhere a front brings outbreaks of rain, some heavy bursts to the north of England. Showers to follow into western Scotland in the afternoon. Highs of 8 to 12C but milder in the south and up to 17C.

Wednesday 15/11/06
Still very mild in the south. A band of rain will be stuck across southern Scotland, northern and western parts of England and Wales, heavy at times. To the north expect a few showers, to the south dry and bright. Rain moves into south tonight, colder than in the north. Highs at 7 to 11C in the north, 13 to 17C in the south.

Thursday 16/11/06
A colder day expected with East Anglia and the far south of England very wet. A few showers will affect western Scotland otherwise fair and dry for the rest of the country. Highs at 7 to 11C north to south.

Friday 17/11/06
A front near the channel could bring a spell of heavy rain to the far south of England with scattered showers for western parts of Scotland. Elsewhere dry with some cloud and some sun. Highs at 8 to 12C.

Saturday 18/11/06
At this point it looks like low pressure will bring rain and drizzle to England and Wales which moves north into Scotland late in the day. Turning mild again in the south. Highs at 8 to 15C north to south.
