Very unsettled, chilly, windy at times
A very unsettled week seems likely through the UK and Ireland. Low pressure is likely to be persisting over the region during the next week. This makes forecast easier in one sense as it means that "unsettled" can adequately describe conditions. However, it makes life harder in another sense in that it is difficult to apply any detail to the forecasts. I hope we can add more detail as the week progresses, but here is what I think so far...

Wednesday 15/11/06
Cloudy with periods of rain across England and Wales as well as southern Ireland, the rain could become heavy at times in the far southwest. Drier across Northern Ireland and the far north of England. Relatively mild in the south. For Scotland it will be colder. Showers will be affecting the north and west, whilst the south and east should be drier.
Thursday 16/11/06
It does look like low pressure is going to be dominating through the UK and Ireland. EXpect periods of rain, some of them heavy at times and it may be windy too. It is hard to put detail on the weather apart from saying all areas will be chilly, with a risk of rain. Snow over the Scottish hills. Temperatures at 7 to 11C.
Friday 17/11/06
Once again detail is diffult, but low pressure is likely to be the controlling factor again. Therefore it will be staying chilly, possibly windy with a further risk of rain and showers for all places.
Saturday 18/11/06
Little change through the day with low pressure expected to be to the west. This will be bringing some heavy periods of rain here. To the east it should be drier. Less breezy and probably feeling milder. HIghs at 9 to 14C.
Sunday 19/11/06
Very low confidence in the forecast detail. Generally though low pressure is expected to be in control and this is likely to be bringing rain into the south, this pushing northwards. More northern areas should be drier, although with a risk of showers here. Temperatures at 8 to 12C/
