It's officially here, winter 2006/2007 begins
Meteorologically speaking winter begins officially on 1st December each year. The season takes us through until 28th February, when we can look forard to spring.
Taking a look around the country this afternoon the web cams are showing a mix of conditions. IverWeather.co.uk webcam is showing cloud and outbreaks of rain in the southeast. Fairly dull for much of southern England although it is a warm start to the season.
Heading north and the Lake District is starting the season bathed in glorious sunshine. It's cooler here though, but the sunshine more than makes up for it.
Over in Ireland there are some showers and the wind is picking up. The webcam from Killarney shows the rain that has recently fallen.
I know what my hopes are for the winter season, I want to see some snow. Yes, I know that many of you won't agree but there is something magical about snow that more than makes up for the cold it bvrings. Two or three days would be perfect! Wht's your favourite weather?
Whatever the weather, keep the sun shining.
Simon
