Bands of heavy and thundery showers are expected to move east across parts of the East Midlands and Eastern England during this afternoon and into the early evening before clearing from the west. 15mm of rain in 3 hours or less is likely in places, along with gusty winds. The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.
