Heavy snow is expected during the early hours of this morning, giving accumulations of 5 cm quite widely and possibly 10 cm on high ground in northeast Cumbria. The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the "Highways Agency" for further advice regarding traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.
