Snow showers will become heavier and more prolonged on Friday across much of Highland to the north and west of the Great Glen. Fresh accumulations of 5 to 10cm are expected, mainly away from the West Coast, with as much as 20cm on hill roads in the Northwest where the snow will drift for a time in the strong southwesterly winds. Along the West Coast, the showers will turn to rain or sleet for a time. The public are advised to take extra care and refer to "Traffic Scotland" for further advice on road conditions.
