MIAMI, Nov 21, 2011 (AFP) - A new hurricane, Kenneth, developed Monday far off the Pacific coast of Mexico, and surged to Category Two force but posed no immediate threat to land, US weather forecasters said. The US National Hurricane Center (NHC) said Kenneth, the 10th hurricane of the current season, was a category two on the five-notch Saffir-Simpson scale, with maximum sustained winds of around 165 kilometers (105 miles) per hour. At 0300 GMT Kenneth was 695 miles (1,120 kilometers) south of the tip of Baja California, and was moving west-northwest at 13 miles (20 kilometers) per hour. The NHC said additional strengthening is anticipated as Kenneth plows towards Mexico, and said it could reach major hurricane status over the next day or two.
