MANILA - Disaster response teams Monday rushed relief operations to tens of thousands of people in the Philippines displaced by floods spawned by cyclone-induced monsoon rains, officials said. Two weeks of Monsoon rains were expected to continue, especially in parts of the main island of Luzon and central Philippines, as Typhoon Halong heads for northwest Japan.

At least 10 people were killed over the weekend in bad weather due to flooding and landslides triggered by the typhoon, bringing the death toll to 65 in 10 days, disaster officials said.

The Red Cross said it had helped 98,107 people affected by floods and estimates that of these, more than 13,000 remain in evacuation centers in Manila and in the northern provinces of Nueva Ecija, Bulacana, Tarlac, Bataan, La Union and in the moutain resort of Baguio city.

Our emergency response teams in all the affected areas are atill conducting relief operations as well as first aid and rescue missions whenever there is a need
