Alpine Weather
Still strong foehn conditions

The southerly airflow causing strong foehn conditions along the northern Alps won't weaken much until Thusday. Dry sunshine and temperatures around 14°C to 18°C on the northern Alps are in sharp contrast to the persistent rain and snow in the Ticinio and the Italian Alps.

Tuesday - a very wet and dull day on the southern flanks of the Swiss Alps. Snow above 1,000 to 3,000m asl. Northern Alps, briliant sun above 1,000 m asl, but misty and low cloud over lower grounds. Severe foehn gusts from south to southeast possible.

Wednesday - not much of a change. Extensive precipitation will ease very slightly over the south. Snow possible above 1,500m. Dry and sunny on higher ground over the northern Alps. Thick fog possible across central Switzerland.

Thursday - less wet, rain and snow (above 1,800m) at times over the Ticino and the French Alps. Otherwise dry. Elsewhere in the Alps sunny and warm above 1,000 to 1,500m asl. but dull and foggy with over lower ground.
