As high pressure temporarily looses is dominant role in influencing the weather pattern close to the United Kingdom, there are indications that milder Atlantic air will attempt to push cloud and rain through all areas later this week.
High pressure should soon once again establish itself close to the southeast or east over the near Continent, with a spell of quiet if chilly mid-winter anticyclonic weather very likely through until mid-month. This anticyclone is expected to drift slowly westwards into the central area of the Atlantic and then decline, with an unsettled and wintry spell quite likely ahead of a somewhat milder regime established through all areas during the latter stages of January. Pressure should build once more to the south or southeast of the country later with an anticyclone re-establishing over the continent.
