New Years Day
Unsettled, often wet and windy weather across the northern half of Europe through the start of the New Year. Rain through central parts of France, southern Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Romania and then into the Baltic States, Finland and northern Sweden. Gales affecting Scotland, much of northern Germany, Denmark, southern Norway and southern Sweden and then into the Baltic States. Mainly dry over southern parts of Spain and Portugal, together with the central Mediterranean. A risk of some light rain in western Italy, whilst Greece and Turkey should stay mainly dry.

Tuesday
High pressure building to the west of Portugal will be bringing mainly fair weather across much of Iberia and the central and western Mediterranean. Rain passing northeast into Ireland and Scotland later. Heavy showers for central Europe including France, Germany and Switzerland. Rain and heavy showers over the Balkans and southern Italy with snow through most of the former Yugoslavia. Heavy showers pushing into western and northern Greece.
