Severe gales expected Thursday

Today
Windy across much of northern Europe today and unsettled. An area of moderate to heavy rain across the United Kingdom spills in across Norway, Sweden, northern Germany, The Low Counties and northern France through the day. This clears to showers across the United Kingdom. Colder with a few snow showers across parts of Finland. Some heavy rain showers are forecast across Poland with some rain in the far north of Spain, otherwise fine across Iberia with sunny spells. A few scattered showers are also likely across Italy and The Balkans. Fine and dry through Greece and Turkey.

Thursday
Severe gales will move into the United Kingdom into France and The Low countries with wind up to 70 mph. Be aware that some disruption to ferry service is possible. Heavy spells of rain will sweep from the UK into France, Germany, Benelux, The Baltic States, Poland and southern parts of Scandinavia. It looks fine and dry with good sunny spells from Spain across the Balearics into Italy, The Balkans, Greece and Turkey. Rather mild for much of Europe.
