Very hot, dry across Med and eastern Europe

Today
Today high pressure areas over Italy and eastern Europe will keep much of Europe fine. Apart from a few showers across France, much of mainland Europe and the Mediterranean will remain hot and sunny day as temperatures climb above the thirties quite widely. Afternoon sea breezes will develop around the Mediterranean coasts help keeping it fresher.
There will be showers today across the United Kingdom with an area of heavy, thundery rain pushing north into Norway and Sweden. Continued dry across Finland with sunny spells.

Wednesday
Hot across the Mediterranean and very hot across Slovakia, Hungry, Romania, Bulgaria and the former Yugoslav Republic where temperatures will soar to 40C. Dry here with unbroken sunshine. A number of sharp showers will affect the United Kingdom, The Low Countries, northern parts of Germany, Switzerland and parts of Austria. An area of more persistent rain is likely across Poland and Belarus with a dry, sunny day across Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Russia.
Central France looks dry while showers affect the north and south. It remains fine and sunny from Portugal into Spain, The Balearics, Italy into the Balkans. A rather windy day for much of Scandinavia with rain and showers though mainly dry for eastern parts of Sweden
