Very hot, dry across eastern Europe

Friday
Turning dry this morning across western France. An area of very heavy, thundery rain will stretch from the United Kingdom into the Low Counties and eastern France and this edge's into western Germany later. Expect sunny spells and scattered showers for eastern Germany and Poland. High pressure centred over Scandinavia will keep it fine and dry. Dry as well across the Baltic states and Russia. The heat wave continues across eastern Europe as temperatures once again climb into the 40s across Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia and the Ukraine. Here it's dry and sunny. Dry, sunny and very warm as well across Spain into the Balearics, Italy and the Balkans.

Saturday
Thundery rain will persist across the United Kingdom today. This extends across Benelux into parts of Poland into southern Germany and southern France. Continued dry and mostly sunny across Norway, Sweden and Finland. Dry and fine as well across the Baltic region into the Ukraine and Russia. Late in the day heavy thunderstorms will move into Switzerland. For Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece and Turkey it remains sunny and dry. It remains extremely hot and dry across Romania, Bosnia, Yugoslavia, Slovakia and Hungary.
