Gales developing in eastern Mediterranean, eastern Europe
Today
Much of Europe will start dry, but cold and frosty start. Patchy fog clears to sunny spells as high pressure dominates the United Kingdom and France. Outbreaks of light rain will develop across Germany and move into eastern parts of France in the afternoon. By the afternoon much of Germany then is dry and bright. Very cold with snow forecast for Switzerland, Austria and across Bavaria.
Generally cloud with light rain expected for Poland. Very windy and cold too for Italy, Greece and the former Czech Republic with outbreaks of locally heavy rain. Showers are likely across Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania with a cold but sunny day across the Baltic States into Russia and the Ukraine. Some light rain is forecast for Finland while much of Sweden and Norway will be dry and bright. Warm, dry and sunny weather will prevail across Spain and the Balearics today.
Monday
Deep low pressure in the Aegean is expected to bring heavy rain and blustery showers accompanied by gale force winds to Italy, the Former Czech and Yugoslav Republics along with Bulgaria, Hungary and Greece. Outbreaks of snow are forecast across Austria with a dry day for Switzerland.
Another cold morning for much of England, France and Germany with a local frost otherwise it's settled and dry with sunny spells once fog patches clear away. The far west of Norway will see an area of rain lingering through the day but for the rest of Scandinavia along with the Baltic States, Russia and Belarus it will be cold but dry and mostly sunny with morning dense fog patches. Continued fine and sunny for Portugal, Spain into the Balearics.
