Rain for central Europe
Dry to the north

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 26th October 2007
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Central areas remaining wet, but drier in the north and east

Today
Basically a fair day over most of Spain and Portugal, although the threat of a light shower cannot be ruled out. For most of France the day should be dry as well, with more sunshine to come. However, for southern coasts there is the threat of some rain, and this could be heavy if it arrives. Much of the Low Countries will be dry, although rather cloudy, and similar conditions for much of Germany too, with the chance of a few spots of rain or drizzle. Fair through Poland, and staying dry here too.
More unsettles through Switzerland and northern Italy as well as into parts of Hungary and Austria. A risk of some heavy rain here, with further rain in the former Yugoslavia. Showers over central and southern Italy, whilst most of Greece, Crete, Cyprus and Turkey will be staying dry with sunny spells. More dry weather and sunshine affecting much of Bulgaria and Romania.
The Ukraine and Belarus should both be dry with sunny spells. Dry weather affecting much of the northeast of Europe, with the Baltic States, Finland, Sweden and Norway all dry, although the winds increasing in western Norway later.

Saturday
A few showers for the east of Spain, but for much of the rest of Spain and Portugal the weather is going to be staying dry and sunny. Dry weather extends throughout France with more sunshine to come here. The dry weather also extends throughout the Low Countries and Germany, as well as through Switzerland and much of northern Italy. More cloud and some spots of drizzle for Germany and Poland, with some outbreaks of rain over Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
To the south the day should be largely dry over Italy, and it should be staying dry and fine through the former Yugoslavia too. Sunny again across Greece and Turkey with patchy cloud through Romania and Bulgaria. A dry day in the Ukraine with some sunshine here, this extending into Belarus. The Baltic States should stay dry too.
Breezy for most of Norway, Finland, Denmark and Norway. Most of Finland and Sweden, as well as Denmark will be dry in sunny spells, but some thicker cloud and rain may affect western Norway.
