Unsettled through southern Europe with periods of rain in Spain and Greece; heavy rain and strong winds in Scandinavia
Today
Cloudy and damp over the east of Spain today, some of the rain heavy at times and a risk of thunderstorms too. For western parts of Spain and the whole of Portugal the day will be dry with lots of sunshine. Across France the day will be dry with lots of sunshine, and it stays sunny over the Low Countries and most of Germany and Poland. Northern Poland will have more cloud and a risk of drizzle along the coasts. Switzerland, Austria and Hungary stays dry with more sunshine here.
The north of Italy will be dry with sunny spells. The southern half of Italy will be cloudier with showers or outbreaks of rain. Cloudier skies over the former Yugoslavia bringing a few spots of rain here. More persistent rain may affect Italy, and this could be heavy at times. Showers in Crete with sunshine over Cyprus. Dry and sunny for Turkey, whilst rain affects the west of Bulgaria and Romania. Eastern parts of Bulgaria and Romania should be dry. Fair with plenty of sunshine across the Ukraine and also Belarus.
A much more unsettled day for the Baltic States with some heavy periods of rain here. rain spreads into Finland later. For Sweden and Norway the day will be wet and windy with some heavy periods of rain. Northern Norway and northern Sweden will be bright with sunny spells, although a few showers on the coasts of Norway.
Friday
The showers still over the eastern coasts of Spain today. For the rest of Spain and Portugal it will be dry again with some good spells of sunshine throughout the day. For France the day is going to be dry with more sunshine, and the sunshine and dry weather affects the Low Countries as well. Cloudier skies spreading southwards through Germany and Poland, bringing some periods of rain here, although it should turn brighter, and colder, from the north.
The rain also affects much of Hungary, Austria and the Czech Republic as well as Slovakia. Most of Italy is going to be dry with sunny spells, although an odd shower could affect the south. Heavier showers in the former Yugoslavia and Greece. Western Turkey may have some showers as well, whilst the east should be dry with sunny spells.
Bulgaria will be unsettled with some rain or showers, this spreading into western parts of Romania. The northern Ukraine has rain later in the day, but the south should be dry. Wet and cloudy for Belarus.
Heavy periods of rain across the Baltic States, drying up in the afternoon. Cold with sunny spells in Finland, whilst most of Sweden and Norway will be dry and sunny too, although rather cold.
