Much milder across western Europe
Today
A very cold and gusty north wind will be blowing across Scandinavia into eastern Europe today with a strong mistral over southern France too. These will bring heavy snow showers to western parts of Norway with a few also across Sweden into Denmark. More persistent snow will fall across Finland and we'll see some heavy falls of snow across Germany, Poland and the former Czech Republic. Another area of snow is likely across Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania and the former Yugoslavia as well. Cold with freezing fog patches across The Baltic States with sleet and snow showers for Russia. For the United Kingdom and northern parts of France expect a lot of cloud and some patchy rain and drizzle. Dry but very windy across the south of France.
An area of heavy, thundery showers through Gibraltar may threaten the extreme southern coasts of Spain and the Balearics though much of Spain and Portugal will be sunny and dry. A few showers are likely across central Italy with the north and south fine and dry. Rain spreads into northern parts of Greece but it's looking settled for southern Greece and Turkey today.
Tuesday

Sunny and cold for Sweden with sunshine and snow showers expected across Finland, the Netherlands, Denmark and the Baltic States. More persistent snow today for eastern parts of Germany and Poland.
Western Germany will become dry and sunnier. Mostly fine and dry across Portugal and Spain with a band of heavy, thundery rain from Sardinia into northern Africa. Drier and sunny across the Balearics. An area of fine, sunny weather will prevail across France into Italy, The Alpine Region across the former Czech Republic and the former Yugoslavia. Some light rain is forecast across Greece with heavier rain and snow moving into northern Turkey.
