Strong winds through the UK and Norway, fair to the south
Today
High pressure is going to be keeping Spain and Portugal dry with some good spells of sunshine throughout the day. To the south of France and the Balearic Islands it will be staying fair too, with more sunshine to come here. Northern parts of France will see cloud increasing later in the day, and this is likely to be producing some showery rain. Strong winds and showery rain moving into the Low Countries and northern Germany too, although southern Germany should be drier and brighter. A few showers may affect parts of Poland too, but eastern Poland should stay dry and bright with some good spells of sunshine here.
For much of Hungary, Austria and Switzerland there will be some cloud through the day, perhaps giving some rain on high ground. Further south, Italy will be fine and sunny throughout the day with more sunshine to come across the former Yugoslavia. In Greece there will be lots of sunshine and dry weather, whilst a few showers affect the west of Turkey. More showers in Bulgaria and Romania.
Heading north and the Baltic States will have some fairly strong winds and a fair amount of cloud, together with some spots of rain. Some patchy rain in Finland too. For Sweden it should be mainly dry, although over Denmark and Norway the winds will be picking up, with heavy rain affecting Denmark and southern Norway. Northern Norway should be brighter.
Friday
Another fair day over Spain and Portugal with plenty of sunshine and the Balearics. A cold day over France with sunny spells. Windy for the Low Countries with some heavy showers on the coasts. An unsettled day in Germany with the winds to gale force, and feeling cold. The showers may become wintry here, as they will over Poland. Windy too in Switzerland, Austria and Hungary, where it will also be cold with showers or rain.
Heavy showers throughout Italy, and cold here as well. Further showers moving into the former Yugoslavia. Greece and Turkey should both be dry with sunny spells, and staying fair in Romania and Bulgaria too.
The Baltic States will be breezy with rain or sleet, and this will be spreading into Finland where it will turn to snow too. Very unsettled through Sweden where there will be strong winds, rain and snow. Gales and heavy showers through Denmark and Norway, these falling as sleet and snow.
