Unsettled, windy and wet in the central Mediterranean

Today
With high pressure in control, we are expecting a large area of fine, dry, sunny weather to prevail from Iberia up into France and the United Kingdom. England and France will be rather cold with morning dense fog and frost otherwise sunny.
With deep low pressure west of Italy, an arc of heavy rain and showers in the central Mediterranean, accompanied by gales over southern France and the Alpine Region, will sweep east into Italy and Greece with a risk of snow for the former Yugoslavia. There will also be some residual snow across the far south of Germany, Poland and across Switzerland, Austria and the former Czech Republic today. Here it stays bitterly cold too. Generally cloudy for the Low Countries with some patchy rain and across the north of Germany patchy rain may be freezing in places. A front will temporarily bring rain and milder weather to Scandinavia through the day.
Very cold but dry and sunny across Belarus, Russia and the Ukraine. Heavy showers again will affect Bulgaria and western parts of Turkey with eastern and central Turkey fine and dry.

Saturday
Continued dry with sunny spells across France and the United Kingdom after morning fog and frost clears. A few showers are possible around the coast of Belgium otherwise a dry, bright day.
Some light rain is likely for northern Germany with an areas of snow across southern Germany into Austria, the former Czech Republic, Slovenia and Hungary. With that deep low over Italy further heavy showers and spells of heavy rain will affect Italy, Greece, Romania and the former Yugoslavia. Continued quite windy as well across the central Mediterranean Region. A belt of rain is expected to spread into Norway today while it's very cold but dry and sunny across Sweden, Finland into the Baltic States and Poland.
Pleasantly warm across Portugal, Spain and the Balearics with lots of sunshine. More rain to come across western Turkey with eastern areas staying fine and dry.
