Rain and strong winds through the northwest of Europe, but drier in the south

Today
A deep area of low pressure is going to be centred over the British Isles and Ireland through today, that will be forcing cloud, rain and strong winds into the north and west of France, with some patchier rain reaching the north of Spain too. For other parts of Spain and Portugal the day is going to be dry with sunny spells. The sunshine extends into central and southern France, although there may be some morning fog here. A foggy start too across Germany and Poland, dense in places, but slowly clearing to leave sunny spells. Similar weather in Austria and Hungary as well as Switzerland. For the Baltic States it will be rather cloud, but generally dry. More cloud and a few spots of drizzle for western Finland, but drier to the east. Fair with sunny spells over Sweden and Denmark as well as much of Norway, although winds increasing in the west of Norway later in the day.

Monday
The area of low pressure remains to the south of the British isles today, bringing strong winds, cloud and rain through much of central and northern France. The rain too over northwest Spain, with a risk of some cloud and drizzle drifting into the south of Portugal and southwest Spain. The rest of Spain and the Balearics, as well as southern France should be dry with sunny spells. Some cloud and rain will be spreading through Germany, whilst most of Poland will be dry with sunny spells. Some sunshine through Austria, Hungary and Switzerland and staying dry here as well.
More dry weather and plenty of sunshine over Italy and the former Yugoslavia. Very unsettled for Greece and parts of Turkey with showers, some of them heavy at times. Drier to the north with fair weather, after morning mist and fog through Romania and into the Ukraine, and Belarus.
For the Baltic States it should be dry with sunshine, whilst stronger winds and rain affecting Finland, although snow showers in the north. For most of Sweden and southern Norway the day will be dry in sunshine, whilst there will be some snow showers in the north.
