Normal service resumed as high pressure builds over soutuhern Europe
Thursday
After days of unsettled weather, a more normal weather pattern looks set to ensue over the coming days. High pressure will be building through Portugal and Spain bringing dry and fine weather for many here, although thicker cloud could still bring some outbreaks of light rain to northern coasts. Through France rain and strong winds will arrive in the north and west, whilst the south and east should stay dry. More dry weather until this afternoon in the Low Countries, and staying generally dry through Germany, Poland, Austria and Switzerland. Some cloud and outbreaks of rain for Hungary.
Over Italy we expect more cloud and some outbreaks of rain at times, this rain heavy to the north. Showers are likely in Greece, these heavy in the west, and the showers affecting much of the Aegean, running into Cyprus and through Crete and Turkey.
Some showers too through Bulgaria, but Romania should be dry with some sunshine.
Heading north and some sleet and snow will affect the Baltic States, whilst Finland may have some snow showers. A few snow showers in Sweden too, and one or two in Denmark and Norway.
Friday
High pressure builds further on Friday. Most of Portugal and Spain will be under the influence of the high pressure, so bringing plenty of dry conditions and sunny spells. Cloud and some outbreaks of rain passing through France, whilst southern France should be generally dry. More wind and some drizzle or light rain in ther Low Countries, especially later in the day. A few early showers in Germany, otherwise dry and mild, with some showery rain heading into Poland. Scattered showers too in Hungary, whilst Austria and Switzerland should be dry.
Some showers developing in Italy, but generally a better day than Thursday. Showers again for the south of Greece, but drier to the north. These showers affecting Crete and the south of Turkey. Much of Bulgaria and Romania will have further cloud and some spots of rain, but should be mainly dry.
Generally dry in the Baltic States, although rain and snow affect Finland. Rain too through southern Sweden, but the north should stay dry. Showers into Denmark, but rain for southern Norway, whilst central and northern Norway stay dry.
