Milder in the west and still cold for eastern Europe

Today
Windy with outbreaks of rain for the United Kingdom and this also spreads into Norway in the morning and into Sweden, Denmark, Holland and Belgium in the afternoon.
A dry, cold but mostly sunny day for Sweden and Finland after a frosty morning. High pressure centred over western Europe will give France, Germany and the Alpine Region a dry day with sunny spells. A dry day to come also across Poland, Belarus and the Ukraine. Just a few snow showers to come across Russia and the Baltic States. Largely dry and fine but continued cold for the Czech Republic, Romania and Hungary. Windy and unsettled across the central Mediterranean with heavy spells of rain near the far south of Italy into Greece with showers expected across western parts of Turkey.
Fine across Cyprus and eastern Turkey and it remains sunny as well for Spain, Portugal and the Balearic Islands.

Thursday
Very windy across Scandinavia and the United Kingdom and much colder. An area of rain clears England in the afternoon and spreads in across The Low Countries, northern France into northern Germany, Denmark, southern Sweden and Finland. This will be heavy across Belgium and across Finland will be preceded by snow. Some heavy showers will affect western parts of Norway with some good sunny spells in central and eastern areas. Rain is expected to clear Poland in the morning with wet day across the Baltic States, Belarus and the Ukraine. Cold across Russia with snow showers.
A large area of high pressure will dominate the rest of Europe with dry, sunnier weather to prevail from Iberia into central and southern France into southern Germany, The Alpine Region and much of south eastern Europe after a cold frosty morning. A fine, sunny and chilly day to come for Italy while it looks windy with an area of rain across Greece and western Turkey.
