An unsettled day for much of central and southern Europe, but better in the east
Monday
Still some showers around for northeastern parts of Spain and the Balearics, where some of them could be heavy. For the rest of Spain and Portugal the day should be dry with some sunny spells, although feeling cool for many. Showers for much of central and southern France, a few of them on the heavy side. The north of France has thicker cloud and some periods of rain, this rain extending into Luxembourg and Belgium. For the Netherlands and Germany the day should be dry, but breezy in places, although rain moves into the west and south of Germany later.
For Poland the day should be mainly dry, apart for a few showers in the east. Sunny spells to come for much of Hungary and the east of Austria, although thickening cloud will push rain into the west of Austria later in the day. Sunshine and showers in Switzerland, some of them heavy in places.
A showery band of rain sweeps eastwards across Italy, being followed by sunny spells and showers. High pressure in the eastern Mediterranean is going to be keeping Greece and Hungary dry with some warm sunshine. This extending northwards into Bulgaria and Romania.
The Baltic States remain generally dry with some bright spells, although showers are possible in the north later. A few showers across Finland too, although these should fade away. For most of Sweden and Norway it will be a dry and cool day. Breezy across Denmark, and cold, but staying dry here.
Tuesday
High pressure brings a more settled and warmer day to Spain today. There will be some good spells of sunshine for many. Sunshine too for most of Portugal. Rain drifting along the northern and northwest coasts of Spain later in the day. France remains fairly unsettled with showers breaking out, especially in the south and east, and plenty of cloud too. Becoming brighter in the Low Countries. Northern Germany and northern Poland will be breezy but mainly dry, whilst the south of these countries are cloudy and unsettled with periods of rain.
Austria and Hungary will have a fair amount of cloud, but a few bright spells in the south. Showers are likely, and these could be on the heavy side at times. Showers too for Switzerland and again these are likely to be heavy in places.
Italy starts the day with some pleasant sunshine, but showers are going to be developing. These could become heavy and thundery over the higher inland areas and the east, but to the west it should be mainly dry. Showers breaking out over Greece too, again some of them heavy. Turkey should be fine and mainly dry, but there is the chance of an isolated thunderstorms breaking out inland in the afternoon. Similar weather in Bulgaria and Romania where showers are likely to develop through the day.
The Scandinavian area of high pressure will be ensuring that Norway, Sweden and Denmark all stay dry and bright, but fairly cold. The brisk east wind continuing to blow across Denmark.
