A bit milder across Europe

Today
A very deep low pressure area moving into western France into the channel and this has the potential for damaging gusts of wind over 100 mph across western France so severe weather is certainly a possibility later today. Rain spreads into southern England during the day with heavy rain, snow and gales tonight. Heavy rain moves into northern France then into the west tonight. Just some patchy light rain today across Belgium and Holland with light snow flurries for Denmark and much of Germany. Fair and dry across Poland today with an area of sleet and snow across Russia with rain for Belarus, the Ukraine into Romania. Expect snow across northern parts of Norway and Sweden and across Finland. Fair and dry in the south. It becomes windy across Iberia with rain spreading into Portugal and western Spain with severe gales in the north. A better day across the Balearics into Italy with sunny spells. Areas of rain will affect the former Yugoslavia, Greece and Turkey.
Expect top temperatures of 4C in London, 3C for Brussels, 4C for Paris, 9C for Madrid, 12C in Rome, 14C in Bucharest, 18C in Athens, 7C in Warsaw, 4C in Berlin, 2C in Moscow and 4C for Stockholm.

Severe gales will affect France and the channel with strong winds moving east into central Europe. Heavy rain to come across France with rain too for the Low Counties and northern Germany. Outbreaks of snow are expected for southern Germany with a risk of heavy snow across the Alpine Region. Sleet and snow is forecast for Holland with outbreaks of snow for Denmark and this moves into southern Sweden. Light snow is also expected across Poland today. Large fine and dry across much of Norway, northern Sweden and Finland today. Very windy across northern Spain with outbreaks of rain mixed with some sleet. Dry and sunnier towards the south and across the Balearics. Showers are expected across Italy and the former Yugoslavia but fair and dry across Greece, Turkey and into Bulgaria and Hungary. Dry as well for the Baltic States, Belarus and much of Russia.
