Improving weather in the Mediterranean whilst the north suffers more winter storms
Wednesday
High pressure brings a fine day with sunny spells through Spain and Portugal. There will be some cloud and showers over the far south of France at first and there is a threat of some cloud and patchy rain in northwest France too. Elsewhere there will be some sunny spells coming through and it should be dry. A fair day over much of the Low Countries and into Germany, whilst Poland will be colder with a few wintry showers. Some rain and sleet over Hungary and Austria with Switzerland see some heavy wintry showers too.
To the south the weather will be unsettled through Italy with heavy showers or longer spells of rain through the country. Mainly fair across Greece with some sunshine. Showers affecting Turkey, although most of Crete and Cyprus should be dry. Bulgaria and Romania will be dry with sunny spells at times.
Heading north low pressure brings showers, some heavy and prolonged through the Baltic States. Cloud and showery bursts of rain over Finland and Sweden. Most of Denmark and Norway should be dry with sunny spells.
Thursday
High pressure persists through Iberia bringing dry and fine weather here throughout the day. Northern parts of France may have some cloud and outbreaks of rain along northern coasts. Elsewhere the day should be dry with sunny spells throughout. Cloud and some rain through much of Germany, but more showery rain across Poland. For Hungary there could be some cloud and showers, with Switzerland largely dry with some hazy sunshine.
A few showers for eastern Italy, but elsewhere it should be dry with sunny spells. Greece will be staying unsettled with heavy showers here, especially in the east where it will be feeling cold. Showers through Crete and Cyprus, but for Turkey there will be some heavy rain in the west, this turning increasingly to sleet and snow. Cloud and some showers through Bulgaria and Romania.
back north and a fair day is likely through Finland and the Baltic States with sunny spells here. Mainly fair over eastern parts of Norway, whilst to the west there will be cloud and some showers. Over Denmark and Norway it is going to be unsettled with heavy periods of rain at times.
