More unsettled weather through the central Mediterranean, but cold across central and northern parts of Europe
Wednesday
An area of low pressure will bring cloud and rain to Portugal. and the southwest of Spain through today. Drier weather to the east and north of the country with sunny spells here. Cold with snow showers across northern and eastern parts of France, some heavy. Drier to the west of France with sunny spells. Heavy snow showers through the Low Countries and northern Germany, with sunny spells and scattered snow showers into Poland. More snow showers through Austria and Hungary as well as Switzerland.
Heavy snow showers again across northern Italy with strong winds here too. Low pressure through central and southern Italy bringing strong winds and rain, some heavy. More wind and rain across Greece, drizzle spreading north through Turkey. Across Bulgaria and Romania there will be cloud, although it should be dry with bright or sunny spells.
To the north it will be cold through the Baltic States and Finland. There will be cloud and a few snow flurries too. More snow across the far south of Sweden and Denmark, with more central and northern areas being dry with sunny spells. Cloud and some rain over western parts of Norway, but dry to the south with sunny spells here.
Thursday
Higher pressure brings plenty of sunshine through Portugal and feeling chilly here too. More dry weather with sunny spells through Spain, although cold with sleet and snow showers across northeast Spain and the Balearics. Bitterly cold and windy through France with snow showers, mainly to the north and east. Further snow showers through the Low Countries and northern Germany. Scattered snow showers to the south and through Poland. Snow showers and cold weather continuing through Hungary, Austria and Switzerland.
Low pressure through Italy brings unsettled weather here. There will be showers or longer spells of rain, some of them wintry in the north. Heavy showers again across Greece, with a band of rain spreading eastwards through Turkey. Cloud, rain and snow across Romania and Bulgaria.
Another cold day across the Baltic States and dry too. Remaining dry through Finland and cold. A few snow flurries through southern parts of Sweden. More cloud, rain, sleet and snow across Norway and northern Sweden. Cold and mainly dry through Denmark.
