More heavy rain for Portugal, but plenty of sunshine for the central and eastern Mediterranean
Wednesday
Cloud and outbreaks of rain affecting the west of Portugal through today, some of them heavy in places. There will be fairer conditions through Spain with sunny spells and a few showers. Across France the weather will be dry with sunny spells, although it will be breezy. The Low Countries stay dry with sunny spells, although showers affect northern parts of Germany and Poland. To the south it is going to be dry. Austria, Hungary and Switzerland will be dry with sunny spells.
High pressure brings more fine weather to Italy and Greece. This sunshine extends through Crete as well as Cyprus. Turkey will have a few showers and some of these are going to be heavy at times. Bulgaria and Romania will have cloud and some showers too.
Low pressure brings cloud and showers into the Baltic States whilst Finland stays dry with sunny spells. More cloud and some showery rain across southern Sweden and Denmark, although Norway will be remaining dry with sunshine to come here.
Thursday
A fair day across Portugal with sunny spells throughout the day. There will be some heavy showers around the north and east of Spain, with a risk of some more persistent rain in the Balearics. Showers could affect the west of France too, but for most of the country the day is likely to be dry with sunny spells. A fine day across the Low Countries, although rather breezy with further sunshine to come. Dry for Germany and Poland with sunny spells, and the dry and fine weather extends into Austria, Hungary and Switzerland.
Italy should be remaining fine with more sunshine to come here throughout the day. High pressure builds across Greece and Crete as well as Cyprus and Turkey with lots of sunshine and dry weather here. Bulgaria and Romania are largely dry, although with broken cloud.
To the north the Baltic States will be staying rather cloudy with rain throughout the day. More rain to come in Finland with the threat of some rain in eastern Sweden too. Denmark should be dry with sunny spells, although some showery rain affects western Sweden.
