Staying bitterly cold across northern Europe, but milder and more unsettled to the south
Tuesday
An unsettled day across Spain and Portugal today with low pressure brings cloud, rain and some showers. These could be heavy at times and will spread to the Balearics too. Across France there will be some rain in the south but for most of the country it will be a bitterly cold day in a strong east wind with frequent wintry showers. Bitterly cold for Germany and the Low Countries too with the threat of some snow showers here. Another cold day in Poland although there will be some sunny spells. More cloud weather to come across Hungary, Austria and Switzerland although it should stay dry.
Fair across northern Italy but very cold whilst there will be some cloud and rain across much of southern Italy. For Greece the day will be dry with sunshine and it is going to be staying fine and sunny in Turkey too. More cloud and some rain for Bulgaria and Romania.
Bitterly cold for the Baltic States and Finland although dry here. High pressure persistent across Scandinavia allowing conditions to be dry although feeling bitterly cold.
Wednesday
More rain and showers to come across Portugal and the north of Spain today. More central and southern parts of Spain should be dry with sunny spells. A cold day for southern France where it will be cloudy with some sleet or snow at times, and further snow across northern areas. Very cold for the Low Countries and Germany in a strong east wind and snow affecting the south. Cold too for Poland with some snow through southern areas. Cloud, rain, sleet and snow through Hungary, Austria and Switzerland, some of it heavy.
Italy will have an unsettled day with low pressure bringing cloud and rain across central and northern areas. To the south there will be sunshine and showers. Greece is going to be warm with sunny spells throughout whilst Turkey has a fine day too with more sunshine here. Cloud and some rain affect Bulgaria and Romania.
To the north high pressure brings a fair but very cold day to the Baltic States. Cloud and snow affecting Finland. A cold day for Sweden, Denmark and Norway too although stay mainly dry here.
