Spells of heavy snow
Today
Rain will turn to snow as it moves into England today. A few snow showers will affect the coasts of Belgium and the Netherlands while outbreaks of snow move across Denmark and Sweden. Bitterly cold but dry and sunny across Norway while snow will fall across Finland into Russia. Dry but very cold across the Baltic States and Belarus. Outbreaks of heavy rain are expected across the former Yugoslavia into Romania and the Ukraine. Showers are forecast for Bulgaria but dry across Greece, Turkey and Italy today. Heavy snow will fall across Hungry and Austria. A cold but dry day to come across Portugal and Spain with some snow across eastern France. Look out for some heavy showers around Corsica and Sardinia today. Much of Germany will be very cold but dry.

The bitter cold continues across Europe today. A wet day across England with outbreaks of rain and sleet. There is a risk of heavy snow across the Low Counties today and this moves into western Germany in the afternoon while the east stays fine and dry. Another dry day to come across Norway with more snow for southern Sweden, Finland, Russia and the Baltic States. A dry but bitterly cold and cloudy day across the Ukraine. Outbreaks of heavy rain and snow are forecast across Romania with snow across the former Yugoslavia and showers across Greece and Bulgaria. Lots of showers as well across Italy with snow in the north but dry and for much of Turkey. Rain spreads into Portugal but a cold, dry day across Spain and much of France.
