Spells of heavy snow in the east
Today
Dry and cold across England with dense fog slowly clearing. A wet day across France with spells of heavy rain and this extend across Switzerland and the far north of Italy. Unsettled as well but milder across Portugal and Spain with rain and heavy showers. Central and southern Italy looks fine and dry with sunny spells. Lots of sunshine as well today across Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey. There is a risk of some snow across Austria and southern Germany today with northern parts of Germany, Belgium, Holland and Denmark dry with sunny spells. The bitterly cold weather continues across Scandinavia and eastern parts of Europe with heavy snow to fall across Russia, The Baltic States, Belarus and Finland. Dry and sunny though across Norway and Sweden. Much of Poland looks very cold but dry and rather cloudy.
Tuesday
The bitter cold continues across eastern Europe today. Mainly dry across Britain today with further spells of rain to come across France, some of it heavy mixed with some sleet. This extend across the far south of Germany across Switzerland and northern Italy. Fair and dry for Belgium, Holland and Denmark. Dry, sunny and continued very cold across Norway and Sweden. Just a few wintry showers to come across Finland with more snow expected across Russia. A few snow showers as well across the Baltic States. Rain, sleet and snow is expected across Poland into Hungry and the Ukraine. A dry day with sunny spells for Bulgaria, the former Yugoslavia, Romania, Greece and Turkey as well as southern Italy. Another very unsettled day across Portugal and Spain with frequent heavy showers.
