Heavy, Thundery Showers Southeast Europe

Today
Today the hottest weather will be found across southern parts of Portugal and Spain with temperatures in the 30s Celsius. It also becomes very warm across Turkey today. Coolest conditions will be found across Scandinavia and from Russia westward across into Poland and northern Germany. High pressure will give much of western and central Europe a dry day. Expect dry, mostly sunny conditions all the way from Portugal through Spain into France, southern England, across through to the Low Countries into Denmark, Germany and most of Poland. Across Scandinavia it will remain quite cold with rain and snow showers across Finland, while snow showers are forecast for northern parts of Norway and Sweden with the south dry. Showers and outbreaks of rain are expected across the Baltic States with an area of rain forecast from western Russia through Belarus into western parts of Ukraine and the rain looks heaviest across Romania and through Hungary and the Adriatic Region. Showers are expected across eastern parts of the Ukraine and across Bulgaria into Slovenia and into southern parts of Italy where they may be thundery. Generally fine and dry across most of Greece and Turkey but there is a risk of some heavy, thundery showers across the far western parts of Turkey down towards Crete. It continues quite windy from southern France to west of Sardinia and it will also be quite windy along the northern coast of Spain and across eastern parts of the Mediterranean up through the Aegean Sea.

Very warm to hot and sunny across Spain and Portugal today. It also becomes warmer across France will be dry with sunny spells. High pressure will also keep it fair and dry across Belgium, Holland, all of Germany into the Czech Republic and Poland. Some rain may affect Denmark. Rain and snow showers are forecast across southern parts of Norway. Most of Sweden should be dry with a few scattered wintry showers expected across parts of Finland. Lots of heavy showers to come across northern parts of Russia today with more persistent and heavy rain across southern Russia into the eastern half of the Ukraine and Romania while some heavy, possibly thundery showers affect Bulgaria. Western parts of Turkey and eastern parts of Turkey should be fair and dry. Just the odd shower across mainland Greece, otherwise dry and sunny. A few sharp showers are possible eastern Mediterranean. Lots of sunshine is expected across the Adriatic Region and across into Italy, Corsica and Sardinia as well as the Balearics you rain and snow showers are forecast for Estonia but dry across most of the Baltic States into Belarus and western parts of the Ukraine and Romania. A strong easterly wind will be blowing through the Straits of Gibraltar.
