Sunny in Scandinavia; Breezy in the Baltic


Wednesday
Low pressure broadly affects central Europe, with high pressure to the north. Rain for Spain on Wednesday, most persistent in the north and east where it will feel cool. Thunderstorms in eastern Spain and the Balearics later. Brighter for Portugal with some sunshine. A few showers for Italy, most in the north and may merge into periods of thunderstorms across the Alps, also affecting Switzerland and Austria. Isolated heavy showers across the Balkans, and feeling hot in Greece with sunshine. Thunderstorms and warm sunshine in Turkey. A scattering of thundery showers affects France and Belgium. Southern Germany is generally dry, but northern parts of Germany are cool with heavy rain. Heavy showers for central Poland and also the Czech Republic. Cool and windy in Denmark and Sweden, although much of Scandinavia is dry with sunny spells.

Thursday
Low pressure centred over eastern Europe on Thursday, with high pressure over Scandinavia. A brighter day for Spain with plenty of sunshine. Cool in the north of Spain, warm in the south. Fine also for Portugal. Sunshine and showers for France and the Low Countries. Unsettled for central and southern Europe, with heavy showers and longer spells of thundery rain in Italy, Switzerland and Austria. The Balkan states also see periods of heavy rain, and it is expected to be warm and thundery in Greece. Fewer showers and hot in Turkey. Heavy rain also extends through the Czech Republic, Hungary and Ukraine. Southern Germany sees rain, but drier further north. Bright, breezy and quite cool in Denmark. Dry and sunny in Norway and Sweden. Finland may see showery rain and is also windy.
