Heavy rain eastern Europe


Friday
Low pressure affects southern and eastern Europe, with higher pressure to the north-west. Sunshine and showers in northern Spain, perhaps a few thunderstorms in the east of Spain. Staying hot and sunny in the south of Spain and Portugal. Sunshine and a scattering of showers for France and Belgium. The Netherlands and Germany will see sunny spells. Swizterland and Austria may catch a few thunderstorms, mostly in the south. Heavy rain and thunderstorms in Italy, particularly east and north. Further thundery showers in the Balkan states and Greece. Heavy rain affects Romania, Bulgaria and also Ukraine. Heavy thundery rain for Turkey, but hot in the south, with sunshine in Cyprus. Sunshine and scattered light showers in Poland and the Czech Republic. Low pressure is centred over eastern Scandinavia. Breezy with showers in Sweden, Finland and the Baltic states. Dry with sunny spells for Norway.

Saturday
High pressure extends further across north-western Europe on Saturday, whilst low pressure is centred over the Black Sea. Another low affects Scandinavia. A few thunderstorms break out for central and south-eastern Spain. Hot and sunny in the south-west of Spain and Portugal, although quite breezy. Italy will continue to see heavy thundery rain. Storms may also affect Corsica, Sardinia and the Balearics. Greece is unsettled with heavy thundery rain. Thunderstorms also affect parts of Turkey. A few showers in the Balkan states, but some bright spells. France will see warm sunshine and a few showers, mostly in the south and west. The Low Countries and Germany are fine with sunny spells. Switzerland and Austria may see some thundery showers develop. Cloudy with patchy rain in Poland and the Czech Republic. Wet and cool in Ukraine and Romania. Showery in Sweden, Finland and southern Norway, although western Norway stays drier and brighter.
